Skin Checks in the workplace

This summer, it is more important than ever to receive a skin check. Melanoma of the skin incidence rates have increased from 54 cases per 100,000 people in 2000 to an estimated 69 cases per 100,000 people in 2022. Australian Vaccine Services are introducing Skin checks as a new service for workplaces in 2024.

Skin checks are another preventative step in protecting your skin from melanoma. By workplaces facilitating these skin checks, more individuals can become aware of any changes in their skin, leading to earlier intervention and a higher rate of successful treatments. With Australia having the highest skin cancer rates, a proactive approach is important to implement. Outdoor workers have a 10 times higher chance of developing skin cancer.

Australian Vaccine Services provide onsite 15-minute skin cancer screening, where a comprehensive skin cancer assessment is undertaken. Our team will follow up with any individual that is recommended to seek further treatment. These skin checks are performed with advances SIAscopy medical technology, this medical device allows our practitioners to view up to 2mm underneath the skin. This significantly increases the ability to identify skin cancers in their early and most treatable stages.
